From my reporting on pediatric gender ideology, I have come to firmly believe that parents—not schools—should have primary authority over their children's upbringing, identity, and well-being.

The Department of Justice is now drawing that line by opening an investigation into the Los Angeles school district's 2019 'secrecy policy' on students' "gender identities.' It allows schools to withhold information from parents and steer kids toward gender transition without family involvement.

Sparked by a lawsuit from parents whose child, Dylan, later died by suicide—who charged the policy isolated him from those best positioned to help. This is fundamental 14th Amendment territory.
