Five ways to practise simplicity this week:

1. Restock for days when you need extra care. I do this at the start of every season so if we get sick or life gets particularly topsy-turvy, there's nourishing back-up available. This looks like:

- at least two pre-cooked meals in the freezer

- herbal teas + manuka honey

- garlic + ginger + lemon

- panadol + nurofen

- bone broth concentrate for easy soup

2. Take a pause; check in with your body, check in with your breath. Take three deeper than normal inhalations followed by three sighs. Consider this a reset in your day.

3. Savour what's satisfying. I don't think we talk enough about the satisfaction of a task completed, a drawer sorted, a particularly good latte, the purchase of a new book, the fact that you listened to your tired body and got into bed early. Don't let these things pass by as 'nothing' - they're the worthy and good parts of your day.

4. Make a thrifty choice: have leftovers for dinner, use the scrappy vegetables in a soup, walk instead of taking the car, bake instead of buying, search preloved before you choose new, wear what you already own, join your local library.

5. Plan a catch-up where you dedicate 20 minutes to doing one thing you've been meaning to tick off the list. Be practical: set a timer, put your phone in another room, limit your distractions and focus. Sometimes your overwhelm is due to the fact that your awareness is stolen; reign it back in, one intentional moment at a time.
