Reconstruction of a Cuman/Kipchak/Polovtsy warrior mask.
The Cumans were influential Turkic people who played a key role in the politics of several kingdoms during the Middle Ages stretching from the Kievan Rus and Hungary in the West, to the Delhi Sultanate and Song China in the East.
The wide mustache, tiny ears, and thick chain mail are key features of the mask. Though such masks were not unique to the Cumans, Mongols, and Persians also used them.
"They customarily sleep armed and armored; they are courageous, fierce, firm, and vehement; [they are] blue/green-eyed and red-haired"- Xu Qianxue, 17th-century Qing Scholar
