"There is an Indigenous tribe from the Daly River region in Northern Australia called the Ngangikurungkurr, whose name translates as ‘Deep Water Sounds’or ‘Sounds of the Deep.’For the Ngangikurungkurr, it is understood that there is a deep spring of story within that calls on each of us. In order for us to live in harmony with the soul, we must listen for the call of that story so that we may know where we are, in mythic terms, and which way to go next. This sense of soul location is not just for our own well-being, but a responsibility to our tribe which depends, in a cascade of influence, upon us being our true self. The Ngangikurungkurr practice what they call dadirri, a form of deep listening for these sacred stories.”
