Trust Kerala to provide new, and sometimes bewildering, experiences. In Kochi, last night, went to an Ootapura for dinner. Staff divided equally between locals and migrants, mostly from the north-east. The thing, though? The locals spoke to me in Hindi, and the migrants in Malayalam — both fractured. One local, to whom I responded in Malayalam, replied again in Hindi. It’s like the kids say: Kerala is not for beginners.
