I mean this in the most polite way possible, but it’s never been easier to be above average.
Not because things are easier. Because most people won’t do the basics.
Across almost any discipline, the basics are becoming rare:
Don’t be a dick — be someone who’s easy to work with, build bridges, help people out
Deep work — being able to concentrate on a single task for 2–3 hours without distraction
Delayed gratification — sticking with something even when you don’t see immediate results
Digital detox — stop scrolling and actually start creating
Humility — don’t be afraid to ask for help when you’re starting out
You’re already separating yourself.
That’s the bar now.
