The other day, a reader asked me..”So what do YOU eat?”
I pondered the question. Was it simply out of curiosity? Or a soft call for guidance?
Are we drowning in a sea of nutritional opinion, information, and misinformation, so omnipresent in our daily discourse that renders good intentioned folks to think, re-think and overthink what should be so basic and common sense driven.
I can assure you that your Nana never dealt with the carnivore/keto vs vegan/vegetarian conundrum!
My usual answer to the above query is…
“I eat animals and plants… usually some combination thereof.”
But this time, since he was a good buddy… I just replied
“I mostly try to eat the good sh*t and stay away from the bad sh*t”
People.. it ain’t that hard. We are all adults.
3 levers: What you eat, When you eat, How much you eat.
You control which levers you pull.
Eat like an adult. You know the bad stuff. I know you know.
Don’t eat all the time. I don’t care if you intermittent fast, or intermittent feed or whatever. Some do better delaying breakfast and some do better eating breakfast. What is IN your breakfast matters most.
Try not to snack. Give your pancreas a well deserved rest. We aren’t designed to live on a constant insulin drip.
And also,…Hara hachi bu …the Japanese philosophy that advises you to eat slow and mindful until you are 80% full.
Or at the least…until you ‘are no longer hungry.’
There it is..easy, peasy.
