Having suffered a great loss just over a year ago, the timing of my encounter of the festival could not have been better! Rather than mourning with silence or sorrow, families celebrate the ongoing presence of loved ones. Music, color, food, and humor welcome spirits home, affirming that death is a continuation, not an end. Personally, this has been year and the presence of my beloved in aspects of joy and sorrow throughout the year.
