Wouldn’t you know it… just when I’d done a series of screenshots for another presentation about getting the most out of Substack for incoming Genealogists on the platform… Substack goes and updates the UI. 🤦‍♀️

• Did you notice how the “reading queue” has updated to the smaller form factor you see on mobile? I kind of like it. Do you?

I have to remind myself that continual platform changes are good. Sometimes a little annoying, but good. Reminding myself again… 🙄 Hm… and again. 😉

Also, as I went back to redo the screenshots, I noticed that Genealogy appears as an account-level interest in the onboarding flow.

See it in the list of categories across the top on my home (substack.com/home) page.

⮕ Have YOU checked to see if “Genealogy” appears as an option in YOUR account settings yet?

Curiously, you can’t configure this on the web, but if you go to your mobile device, go to the profile (top right), then the cog ⚙️ on the bottom right, you’ll see

• Settings, then select Manage Interests

• Then, under Interests, select History

• Finally, you’ll now see Genealogy as a category.

Now go back to the web and tell me if you see Genealogy as a category.

This may be locality-dependent, but I did not previously understand that you have to configure account-level interests in the mobile app.
