What’s on my mind? Jessica Flack ex-Santa-Fe that’s who.
She’s been in stealth mode for about a year and her position is described in this (temporary) WordPress blog bio:
She’s been dealing with her “corruption” problem for a few years, seemingly after someone - (a colleague?) - took a draft paper of hers which she shared on social media and developed it, without permission and (presumably?) without giving credit or acknowledgement.
This time last year she gave up her position at Santa Fe Institute, and I suspect it was my recently reading Dennett’s memoir - very positive about his interactions with SFI - that prompted the “Whatever happened to Jessica"? thoughts. (And incidentally I added more notes to the foot of my recent Dennett post related to Flack and SFI psybertron.substack.com…)
She has the professional academic qualifications and credibility, where I am an autodidact, in coarse-graining of complex systems, with a fundamental 2nd Law / Informational & Computational basis.
I’ve made lots of references to her on my WordPress blog over the years psybertron.org and she has connections with quite a few others I’ve used as sources in this space, Melanie Mitchell, Sara Amari-Walker and Chiara Marletto to name a few (of the women) - it’s Chiara’s book in the photo at the bottom of the blog bio above.
I do hope Jessica is OK. May have to get a paid subscription to her SubStack to get behind the limited public “stealth” activity?c4computation.substack.…(BUT worryingly her SubStack won’t let me pay to subscribe … despite several attempts.)
