What’s astonishing is that the APA has had outcries about free speech being under threat recently. They clearly have a selective view of “Free Speech”.

Beyond that, this is just —what should be— the logical step in the escalation of medicalisation. If life-altering interventions can be avoided by mere questions and getting to the root what is likely —according to the overwhelming decades of evidence— a temporary distortion or misappropriation of reasoning, then we ought to demonstrate that clinical prudence.

Not to mention the “approach” the APA is clutching for dear life to and still promoting had been applied more rapidly and robustly in countries which are now drastically rolling them back due to the preponderance of evidence demonstrating the cost-benefit ratio is not even close to what has been blindly assumed.

The APA left science and reason behind. It’s time science and reason acknowledged this and left the APA behind.
