I have never been able to stay in one place for long.

Not intellectually, anyway. Philosophy would pull me in, then developmental psychology, then biology, evolution of the brain, then innovation and creative approaches to thinking, and now AI. Each time I followed a new thread, someone told me to stop. To pick one thing. To focus.

It took me years to understand that what they called a problem was actually a way of seeing.

In today's piece, I'm exploring two ideas that I think belong together — the rehabilitation of the polymath mind, and the quiet revolution happening inside a school in Austin, Texas, where children learn twice as much in half the time, powered by AI and guided by coaches who focus entirely on motivation.

Both, I think, are pointing at the same thing: the model we inherited was never built for curious people. It was built for compliance.

That world is ending.
