Your ego is uncomfortable.

Because Ramaḍān exposes you.

All year you say:

“I don’t have time.”

“I’m too drained.”

“I can’t focus.”

“I can't pray Fajr.”

Then Ramaḍān arrives.

You sleep less.

You eat less.

You still function.

You still stand in prayer.

And many of you memorise more Qur’ān in these days than you did in the previous two months.

Nothing supernatural happened to you on the first night.

Allah narrowed the window.

أَيَّامًا مَعْدُودَاتٍ

“A few numbered days.”

— Qur'an 2:184

Something that is counted feels limited.

When supply is limited, it drives the value high and you treat it seriously.

Scarcity exposes you.

The difference is never ability. You're always capable, that's why Allāh chose you to be who you are.

Allah calls it “a few numbered days” to remind you:

This is temporary.

But what you build in it does not have to be.

It's almost as if Ramaḍān represents your entire life in a few numbered days.

Because life is also short in supply. Your days are numbered. Ramaḍān comes to remind you.

What are you going to do about it?
