Most traders blow up for the same reason.
Not bad indicators. Not bad entries. Bad risk control.
After organizing 399 rules from my Futures & Options framework, here are the 10 that actually determine survival:
Never risk more than 1–2% per trade.
Always use a hard stop-loss.
Minimum 1:2 risk-to-reward — or skip the trade.
Never use maximum leverage.
Never move a stop further away.
Portfolio risk capped at 6%.
Never average down.
Capital preservation > profit.
You must have a written trading plan.
Before any trade ask: – What’s my position? – What’s my risk? – What’s my tolerance? – What’s my exit?
Notice what’s missing?
No indicators. No secret setups. No prediction hacks.
Because in futures and options:
Risk management IS the strategy.
If you could only implement three today: • 1–2% risk • Hard stops • 1:2 minimum R:R
Everything else builds from there.
Which rule do you struggle with most?
