A text from my mother in law.

My husband (her son) is in his third year of medical residency — he’s currently on a grueling rotation and will soon transition to working two weeks of nights.

My MIL is always looking for ways to support us from a distance since they don’t live nearby. She sends me flowers on my kids’ birthdays to celebrate me, she plans games for FaceTime calls with my 3 year old, she brings the next size of clothes when they come to visit — that’s not even scratching the surface. And, she sends me messages like this one to acknowledge my efforts, let me know that she sees my hard work, and remind me that I have a support system.

This is absolutely the type of mom and mother-in-law I aspire to be one day.
