Chapeau to Rachel Khoo for not only writing her memoir, The Smallest Restaurant in Paris, but going the extraordinary extra mile to publish it independently. Rachel’s TV series The Little Paris Kitchen was a fave of mine when it first aired, so I’m intrigued to find out how it all came about, and what drew her to France in the first place. For anyone even slightly tempted by self-publishing, she’s started a YouTube channel alongside the book, explaining exactly what was involved, with some great tips on her writing process and how she knuckled down and got it done. Notably, she invested in a professional editor - SO IMPORTANT - and so often skipped by self-publishers.
