I’m thrilled to share that my podcast Finders and Keepers, about our attachments to our belongings, launched today with 4 episodes!
Here’s the main hub with all the episodes at Open Secrets Magazine and it’s also available on all major streaming platforms and I’d love if you subscribed and reviewed wherever you listen to podcasts, and I welcome comments and guest suggestions for future seasons, though Season 2 is full and Season 3 is getting there (spoiler alert: the final episode of Season 1 features an amazing interview with Jane Pratt on her use of storage spaces, working at Sassy, and much more).
Our launch guests include Twanna A. Hines and her friends April and Kristyana on a teddy bear, Nathaniel Behr, they’ve jointly owned for over 25 years who’s traveled to China, Egypt, and all over the world with them, Emily Mester on the allure of Costco and bulk shopping (and why we love to shop and browse but hate the agony of online returns), Deesha Philyaw on her book collection and deciding what to keep, and ahead of Mother’s Day, Emily Hessney Lynch on inheritances from her mother and grandmother, and holding on to her toddler son’s belongings from his earliest days in the hospital while undergoing medical treatment, and what we hope for our kids to inherit from us.
THANK YOU to many people, especially Nan Tepper for helping me conceptualize the title and for this amazing logo, Jerry Portwood for steering me toward my wonderful audio producer Dan Schroeder, and Matt Cundill at Sound Off Network (and Andrea Askowitz of Writing Class Radio podcast, which is where I found Matt).
I wouldn’t have had the courage or knowledge to launch this podcast without taking Courtney Kocak’s podcasting for writers class via WritingWorkshops.com back in fall 2024, when I was a new mom and determined to get my vision for this podcast off the ground. It took me a long time due to tech issues on my end, impostor syndrome, and finding the right team. I’m so happy with how season 1 came out. We’ll run new episodes every week, with a short break between seasons.
