I don’t know how to explain to people who claim to care about the principles of limited government that if you put the onus on citizens to de-escalate ambiguous situations so they’re not shot by masked government agents in public you are 100% doing it wrong.

Even citizens breaking the law should not be summarily shot when other alternatives exist. But that’s even more true when government agents are acting outside their legal scope of authority. I just don’t know how much more clear this can be.
