What if the author eventually has children? By the sister's reasoning, she should then hand over $150k or more from her inheritance to establish an equal trust for each child. And that wouldn't even account for inflation so it's not quite equal. The initial trust for the sister's child was generous, and a 50/50 split of everything would have been completely fair. One sibling is not responsible for the other's choice and timing to grow a family.
