Why I am writing the Sokaaji Saga?

In spite of being born and raised in Mumbai, and having at least 5 generations of ancestors living in Mumbai, I spent much of my life knowing next to nothing about the city’s true origins. Like most Mumbaikars, I believed incorrectly that Mumbai was created by the British.

The Sokaaji Saga is my attempt to unmask the truth - to make Mumbai’s pre-colonial history accessible, vivid and human.
