One of the biggest mistakes we made in American society after World War II is we put eros, or romantic love, on a pedestal as the only real love, and that’s such a tragic mistake. I largely blame Freudian psychology for that, which sexualized everything.
Philia, or the brotherly love of friendship, is just as important and integral to society, not because of its utility or usefulness, but as a good in and of itself.
Trash everywhere, weed dispensaries everywhere, endless ads for ESPNBet & DraftKings, rampant obesity, porn addictions, and Netflix slop-binging, etc—it's almost like we took a look at the menu of vices and chose all the dullest and grossest ones.
