When you see the writing on the wall, that’s when you tap into relationships.
I was at my last company for a decade but stayed in touch with people and kept building new industry connections every year. I knew a layoff was coming about a year out, so I reactivated my network early.
By the time it happened, I made a few calls and had multiple offers within two weeks.
Moral of the story: build your network before you “need it”
