Psychiatry Substacks

Why are psychiatrists over-represented on here? We may have more time on our hands than ED docs or surgeons but I also think psychiatry attracts a slightly more reflective (dare I say thoughtful) type of doctor.

There is clearly an appetite for public engagement, not seen in other medical specialties - would you really read a nephrology newsletter?

For me - and I suspect others - it helps that a poster-boy for Substack, Scott Alexander, is a psychiatrist who writes about these topics, among others. Astral Codex Ten stands alone, so I won’t include it below.

What follows is a list of Psychiatry Substacks I have come across. It is an expanding group so let me know if there’s anything I missed! Embarrassingly there seems to be a marked male predominance. That can’t be right, am I missing all the female blogging psychiatrists?!
