I think you should approach every book with the intent of liking it.

That doesn’t make me a good book critic, but it sure makes for a more enjoyable reading life.

Look for the good, try to figure out what the author’s impetus was, and see if you can find what resonates with the readers who loved and recommended it.

If you end up in a place where it’s really not working and you need to DNF, at least you gave it a fair shot.
