Returning to real life after a few days at the first annual Food Writers Retreat where 20 Substack food writers gathered in a gorgeous home in Pennsylvania for three days of cooking together, learning from each other, and real, in person connection. It was incredible to watch this group of mostly strangers instantly feel like friends. Had you walked into the room, even on the very first day, you would never have known we were all just meeting each other for the first time.

And if social media doesn’t destroy us first, perhaps we can create more of this… real relationships with real people that we happened to meet online. My life is unquestionably better because of these relationships.
