Just saw a youtube show by a mainstream Christian pastor about various Christian “cults” (his word not mine): Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, and Christian Scientists. One of the things all these groups had in common was they all claimed that the Bible has been changed to support mainstream Christian beliefs.

This is, of course, quite true but only in translation. This started with the first translation, the Latin Vulgate. However, each of these groups have their own Bibles, which I suspect, support their own beliefs.

However, though I don’t think this man’s research into these offshoots was very solid but what he cited as their diverging beliefs was interesting because their teaching, especially that of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, was much more like the teaching of Jesus. But, knowing what Jesus said I can see how each of these “cults” arose from what has been disguised in Jesus’s words and perhaps other writers in the New Testament.
