I installed OpenClaw this weekend on my Mac Mini (that was, admittedly, collecting dust) and played with it for two days non-stop.
I think it’s problematic and has all sorts of security scares.
But.
If you are in tech, I also think it’s impossible not to be somewhat excited by it. Everything (kinda) works out of the box: memory, cron jobs, chat integrations (Telegram, WhatsApp, …), and it’s all open source!
If we just manage not to destroy the world in the short-term, the idea that the full AI stack — models + agentic/orchestration tooling — can be open source and reasonably hostable at home feels incredible.
(it also makes it increasingly dubious that big AI labs will ever be able to make money, but that’s another story)
What are your thoughts?
