Sometimes, I am questioned about why I am afraid of my ex-husband after all this time. I’ve stopped rattling off the things that have happened since our divorce because it doesn’t matter what I say.

To most people, my responses are anecdotal.

To me, they live on a foundation of many, many incidents like the one I write about here.

When you know what a person is truly capable of you don’t forget. Colors like these never wash out.
