As a data scientist this has bothered me like, “eats shoots and leaves,” bothers literature-minded folks, for months: where are the 3.5 million documents?

I’ve catalogued a sum total of 2,923,763 pages (epstein-data.com/full_t…) across 1,425,565 documents (epstein-data.com/full_t…) the government has released about the Epstein case. I’ve tried to find more: I’ve talked to several other archive maintainers, even a lead organizer for the Trump-Epstein Memorial Reading Room — not one has broken 3 million pages.

The sources people include are different: FOIAs, House Oversight documents, FBI Vault, DOJ-OGR, estate productions — oh my! Even if you’re incredibly generous to DOJ, including cases like the 22K e-mails JMail ingested from the Distributed Denial of Secrets leak (from likely Iranian hackers — not DOJ), none of the archives get anywhere close to the 3.5 million figure.

So I ask — for all those journalists out there claiming there are “3.5 million files” — where are they? Did we just.. take.. this DOJ’s word for it, and not do the arithmetic? People who wrote up the Trump-Epstein museum as “3.5 million pages in 3,437 volumes of 800 pages each”… did you not do the multiplication? Does nobody multiply anymore?
