How I Monetized My Course to $65K+

(And how you can, too)

Most people think launching a course is just about recording videos and hoping people sign up. Wrong.

Here’s what actually worked..

1. Live Sessions → Higher Pricing

If you want to charge premium rates, you can’t just sell on-demand videos. I included weekly live workshops so people could practice their skills in real-time.

Lesson?

Live interaction = more value = higher price tag.

2. Strategic Partnerships → Free Exposure

Right when I was filming, Gainsight (a major platform in my industry) acquired our LMS, Northpass.

I reached out, we partnered, they sponsored my beginner course and gave it away for free.

Result? Gainsight got leads. I got paid. Win-win.

Takeaway: Build strategic relationships NOW. Cold outreach doesn’t cut it.

3. Selling Course Bundles → Instant $20K

Instead of waiting for individual sales, I packaged the courses and pitched them to companies.

One client bought all four courses for their team → $20K upfront.

End-of-year budget surpluses? training multiple employees?

= Perfect time to sell bulk course licenses.

4. Email Campaigns That Convert

Most course promos sound like:

"I made a course, sign up!"

"It’s really good, sign up!"

"Here’s a discount, sign up!"

This doesn’t work (unless you have a 100K+ email list).

Instead, I built value-first emails:

→ "Stop undervaluing great community engagement skills!"

→ "Master the basics of developing successful communities."

→ "The killer mistake of a $250K+ enterprise community."

Each email gave free, useful insights while naturally leading people into the course.

Result? 1,400+ signups for the free course → Warm audience → Paid course conversions.

5. Custom Workshops → Another Revenue Stream

Unexpected bonus? Clients started asking for custom workshops based on the free training.

These workshops alone doubled my revenue from the course.

(And I’ve only released 2 of 4 courses... more to come..

Key Takeaways

You need trust & an audience. Attention alone doesn’t drive sales.

Positioning matters. What makes your course unique in a crowded market?

Free courses = Lead magnets. More signups, more future customers. → Strategic partnerships pay off. Build relationships before you need them.

Email marketing is king. Don’t just sell. Educate & engage.
