Amazon is ending support for older Kindle models on May 20, 2026. After that date, these devices will no longer be able to connect to the Kindle Store to buy, borrow, or download books.

You’ll still be able to read any books already on your device. You can also access your library through the web, Kindle apps, or newer devices.

One important note: if you factory reset an older Kindle, you won’t be able to download your books again.

Amazon says it is offering a discount and ebook credit for customers who upgrade to a newer device.
