I so completely get where you’re coming from.

I’m writing the comprehensive series of articles on the Harry Smith Anthology, and I often ask myself why I write about records that were made damned near 100 years ago while the world of right now is in flames.

I’m here to encourage you to write and share your fun post.

Speaking strictly for myself, I welcome any respite from incessant reminders of just how screwed up everything is. I need benign distraction. More importantly, I need to be reminded of goodness. I need to be reminded of emotions beyond dread and anxiety. I all but crave the mundane.

When I read someone else’s work, I can be transported into their world for a moment, and my own issues (or those of the world at large) might not be front and center in my mind for a moment.

That’s escape is a wonderful gift to receive.
