From The New York Times article on the ICE killing of Nurse Alex Pretti:
“Videos analyzed by The New York Times contradict the accounts of Homeland Security officials, who said that the man approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and the intent to “massacre” them. Footage of the encounter shows the man was holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when federal agents took him to the ground and shot him.”
A reminder from the essay “I Hadn’t Heard Shit About What They Did to Keith Porter” that I wrote earlier this month:
“Whatever you believe, say, do, ignore, view askance about and allow to happen to Black men and boys; all of the scorn that you hold for us as righteous inside the beat of your own blood—all of that is the prophetic revelation of your own future. Not because I say so, but because history does.”
