No, not quite. We came this close to them TRYING. The military would not--NOT--have done it. I know this for absolute certainty (yes, I've talked to people). The Joint Chiefs were ready for this possibility (after the crap Trump tried that summer). They would've simply refused if ever ordered to do so. It's still just as bad that it almost happened, but no, we were not so close to real tanks rolling in the streets of DC.
