Western Policies in Ukraine: Democracy or Hypocrisy?

A series of Gallup opinion polls shows that, in Ukraine, agreement with the statement “we should seek to negotiate an ending to the war as soon as possible” increased from 22% in 2022 to 66% in 2026.

Peace.

This is what the majority of the Ukrainian people want.While the condemnation of the Russian invasion (provoked but not justified) needs to be clearly reiterated, one thing is clear: if the EU, NATO, the US, and most Western governments were truly democratic, they would pay attention to the needs of the Ukrainian people rather than assuming they know how to protect them.

But they don’t.

Western governments’ policies—driven by their military industrial complex and mediated by their press—are based on hypocrisy rather than democracy.
