Accountability is the most important part to build a sustainable peace in Europe between Ukraine and Russia, says Secretary General of Council of Europe in closing press conference of the meeting.
Also, Iceland is gifting Latvia a Hammer of Thor with a secret compartment that holds a message, as they hand over the presidency of the council. Truly an electric moment.
Latvia says that, going forward, it wants the council to play a role in Europe in:
-The council wants to ensure through the damages register that Russia as well as its leaders pay reparations to Ukraine for the war.
-Strengthening democracy and rule of law
-Protecting freedom of expression and journalism
-Tackling important challenges like environment and AI, especially the human rights aspects
