Most people are not shallow. They care deeply. But the advice they follow, the tools they use and the pressure to publish often push them toward producing words that look fancy, smart and highly competent but which - if you analyze them carefully - are somewhat empty. They are all glitz, but have no taste. They look great, but they carry no weight.
