The political divide is reflected even in birth rates.

Fifteen years ago, liberal and conservative women between the ages of 18 and 35 were having children at roughly the same rate.

Since then, a significant gap has emerged.

As of 2024, about 75 percent of liberal women in this age group are childless, compared with roughly 40 percent of conservative women. In other words, childlessness among liberal women is now nearly twice as high as it is among their conservative counterparts—a striking divergence from the pattern that prevailed just a decade and a half ago.
