If you’ve learned another language, are conversationally confident in another language, or are making real progress in another language, tell me — this is my stretch reading.
Do you think stretch reading is a good thing to do?
I’m likely B2 as a reader or writer, but B1 on a good day as a speaker, in large part because I get nervous and anxious. Not about interacting, because I deeply want to, but there’s a block that happens between my brain and mouth when I’m trying to find the words. That block can fluster me, trigger the aforementioned nervousness and anxiousness, and produce — to put it kindly — only decent, at best, Spanish.
I understand that this is a typical frustration at my level and, maybe, a sign I’m about to make a significant step forward.
This book is in an area I love. So context helps me. I think I understand like 65% to 75% when I read it. Then, when I check (mostly for vocabulary I don’t know and to figure out more complex and lengthly sentences), I actually understood like 45% to 50%.
Thoughts!
