Today is Transgender Day of Visibility.

And visibility alone is not enough.

We are in a moment where trans people, especially Black trans people, are being targeted through policy, housing instability, and systemic disinvestment. So while we celebrate, we also have to be honest about what’s at stake.

If we are serious about protecting trans lives, then we need more than statements. We need infrastructure.

That means: Safe, stable housing. Real economic opportunity. Policy that protects dignity and expands freedom.

That’s why I’m building.

Through BIPOC Pride Hampton Roads (September 18–20, 2026), we are creating spaces that center, celebrate, and resource Black and Brown LGBTQ+ communities right here in our region.

And through our work with Thriving Trans Men of Color, we are developing a vision for supportive housing and community infrastructure that ensures trans folx are not just surviving, but thriving.

Black trans people are not just visible. They are leaders, culture shapers, and movement architects. Our job is to make sure they are resourced, protected, and positioned to thrive.

Not just today. Every day.

If you want to be part of this work, sponsorship and scholarship opportunities are now open for Hampton Roads BIPOC Pride.
