If you feel overwhelmed by the changes here, the growth here, the pace here, the bubble-like feeling of it, just take comfort in the idea that many of us will probably be doing this on another platform in five years. (I’m old enough in digital media years to say that.) What matters is not the success on here, it’s the fact that you’re writing.

Here is something you can’t argue with me about: If you write consistently, it will take you somewhere more interesting and true. Focus on that. Most of people who you perceive as having “cracked” this platform were consistently writing and/or building an audience long before this one existed. Don’t give Substack this much power in your psyche! It’s crazy making! Just do the work!
