I’m road tripping this weekend (the “Great American Retro Road Trip” never ends!) and my journey took me past Liberty, New York, so I had to check in on this old friend, Town & Country.

I have long adored this storefront, a colorful grid of midcentury design, dating to the 1950s but perpetually stylish. This was a men and boy’s clothing store for decades and in recent years has served as an antique store.

The building’s previous lives include serving as a theater. About 20 years, as the building was being turned into an antique store, a vintage Gold Medal Flour ghost sign was uncovered on the north side of the building, and it is now maintained in superb condition.

I’ve poked around the antique store but wish I could travel back in time and pick up a sport coat at Town & Country back in the day. I’m glad all this history here is celebrated in this remarkable preserved space. #retrologist
