The Future of Warfare Is Already Here
Ukrainian drone operators can now control FPV drones from thousands of kilometers away – safely, with virtually zero signal delay.
This isn’t science fiction. A friend of mine has been trained as part of these forces and participates in actual operations against Russia from a location far from the front line. He is an excellent drone operator, and the distance keeps him alive.
Ukraine is building an entirely new model of modern warfare in real time – one that no other military in the world currently possesses. The battlefield is becoming a fusion of drones, networking, remote operations, software engineering, and real-time data transmission. Any one of those elements alone means little. Together, they are redefining war.
The future of warfare looks less like traditional combat and more like a distributed multiplayer system operating at lethal scale. Ukraine is already living in that future.
(The video includes excerpts from a report by Julian Röpcke of BILD, explaining how the remote control system works, how signals are relayed, and why it dramatically improves pilot survivability.)
