I don’t know if this a universal thing or a weird quirky media thing (maybe even just UK media thing?), but journalists’ job titles don’t necessarily indicate what they actually do or which part of the publication they write for. Until recently, for example, there were six separate people at one major national news publication in the UK whose job title was “health editor”, or a variation thereon. And to any outsider, it would seem logical that if you pitched one of these “health editors”, that you had pitched to them all.
