I’m not sure I am a lesson for Substack success because I have a pretty decent-sized list but it’s very bifurcated, people hanging around for NYC politics, people looking for broader cultural takes, and maybe 15 people who will read the 6,000 words or so I end up writing on Pet Sounds. Such is life! Everything I publish is guaranteed to alienate some percentage of my audience.
