The other parts of Inuit territory currently under Canadian occupation (Inuit Nunangat) rather than only Danish occupation (Inuit Nunaat) needs to be recognized as part of this.
I agree shipping lanes being opened up in the Northwest Passage is critical to the conversation, and pushing Canada and Denmark out of the way will be key to US and Russian interests.
Overall, we are talking about 4 foreign governments (Canada, Denmark, USA, Russia) all trying to call "dibs" over peoples and lands that none of them have any legitimate claims to.
Innuit sovereignty independent from those 4 foreign governments would be ideal, but I doubt any of those special foreign interests would agree to that.
I even worry if there will be any future for the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS), leave alone the formation of a legitimate Arctic treaty to protect those lands and peoples.
