Something got lost in translation. I was only trying to express that there is more than one "there". My intention is only to help people not get upset with an owner if they decide to exclude people/ideas/comments from their own “there”. Where a comment is made matters.
For sites like Twitter/X or Bluesky, there is only one "there" - like a private-sector run "speakers corner" (I have been to the one in Hyde Park, London).
For platforms like Blogger/Wordpress/Substack/Ghost/etc there is more than one "there", and each "there" has its own culture, rules, and owner/publisher. The owner of the specific site hosted on these platforms has specific rights and obligations in relation to their there.
Facebook/Reddit/etc are more confusing, and thus not helpful in trying to offer a simple explanation of the lines between “owners” vs "publishers" vs “moderators” vs other participants in conversations.
The IKEA analogy obviously didn’t help.
BTW: For the sake of comment size, I am keeping my views on copyright elsewhere. After 20 years I closed a "there" that allowed many other people to post their own thoughts on that topic, as well as host my own thoughts. r.flora.ca/p/closing-di…
