Yup — resonates with me for sure!

I was self-employed for much of my career, but needed to change as a more stable cash situation was needed (heading into the predictable 2008 “Financial Crisis”).

Unfortunately I didn’t know my neurotype, so didn’t know how painful that would be as I moved between employers (as I had when younger, when it was me that decided to leave based on the lack of fit) and ended up bumping into one where after 5 years I was thrown into full-on Autistic Burnout.

I ended up with an unplanned “Freedom 55” retirement….

(Note: As a White Male I didn’t get the “lacking executive presence”, but more that I was told I was bumping into other people’s jurisdiction too much. I was trying to collaborate in environments that didn’t allow for collaborating).

Misunderstandings of Autistic energy as “angry” is seen differently in White Males than it would be in a human that wasn’t white, wasn’t male, or even more dismissed would be the combination.
