The app for independent voices

Maybe it’s my being Autistic, but I have clarifying questions before I can think about this comment:

What does “political reasons” mean?

What does a ‘meaningful political act” mean?

If we are talking about which candidates and/or political parties someone votes for, I wouldn’t consider that worthy of "political reasons”.

I’m not a supporter of any of the Canadian parties that have seats in the federal or Ontario provincial parliaments. While I might rank candidates differently (if ever given a chance to rank), I can’t fault people for voting differently under divisive party-centric voting systems like FPTP, MMP, etc — or the resulting hyper-partisan parliaments.

If we are talking about things like the Genocide being carried out by the current Governemnt of Israel, then that is in my mind worthy of cutting off friends and family. Anyone who at this point would still narrowly focus on “would you condemn Hamas” (a resistance group and political party) and not talk about the far-worse actions of Likud (political party, terrorist group, what Hamas and other groups were formed to resist) simply perceive the world too differently that we wouldn’t have enough in common to be friends or civil family.

I am aware genocide denialism is a common passtime within British North American (USA, Canada) culture, and this is yet another example of that denialism in further of Anglosphere interests. The Zionist entity was created by, is sustained by, and protected from enforcement of international law by various parts of the Anglosphere (UK + CANZUS).

I would be cutting them off as I wouldn’t want to be associated with them, either having to deal with being triggered by their offensive ideology or have any suggestion I might agree. It wouldn’t be a political act to try to convince them or others.

When it comes to things like continued support of the genocidal policies of the Zionist entity and the Likud terrorist group and leadership, there has been enough time for them to find their humanity.  It isn’t something they would ever accept my help with if they hadn’t already.

Cutting off family members for political reasons is overrated and it’s worth having a healthy skepticism towards people who are confused enough to think doing so is a meaningful political act.
