There’s a long history of “expert consensus” being dead wrong.
Not because science itself is flawed, but because science, when fused with profit or unchecked authority, can lose its compass.
Decades ago, mainstream medicine endorsed products and protocols we now find unthinkable. What was once promoted as cutting-edge turned out to be harmful. In many cases, those treatments were widely accepted, praised by professionals, and pushed through institutions with little room for dissent.
People were told their discomfort was imaginary. That what harmed them was helping. That questioning the system meant they were anti-science or irrational. Sound familiar?
Whether it was experimental surgeries marketed as miracle cures, lifestyle habits sold as “healthy,” or psychological theories used to pathologize normal human behavior, history is full of examples where the experts got it wrong. Massively wrong.
And the consequences weren’t just personal. They were cultural. Generational. Entire communities suffered before the narrative changed.
The point isn’t to fear science. It’s to understand its limits and to remember that real science welcomes scrutiny, debate, and evolution.
Obedience is not a scientific principle
Critical thinking is.
So if you’ve ever felt dismissed, questioned your diagnosis, or wondered if there’s more to your story, you’re not crazy. You’re just awake
